What can I say about Doug? Inventor of many things, including the mouse, hypertext, and graphical user interfaces. Many of these were demonstrated for the first time in 1968 at the MotherOfAllDemos. (EI)

More important than his inventions was the motivation driving them: saving the world by making people smarter. His landmark paper, "Augmenting Human Intellect: A Conceptual Framework" (1962), is a must-read. The most impressive thing about Doug is that he's an incredibly decent human being. (EJ)
